Can you believe we’re halfway through April? Shocking.
A defining era of my life was having worked at Brandy Melville as a teenager. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
I won’t say much, but it was a very chaotic time that resulted in some truly special lifelong friendships. Last night, I got together with a few of those friends to watch HBO’s viral new exposé of the brand. All I’ll say is that this film only scratched the surface - the company and culture is so unique and the stories behind it will shock you.
Fun fact: I was asked to be a part of this documentary and declined. Should I make my own?
💌 The scoop
Despite rumors of “no one going to Coachella” and “Coachella being so over,” the festival seems to have re-captured hearts and minds after some standout performances have gone viral online. Notably:
Lana Del Rey’s headlining performance that featured some older songs, a performance with Billie Eilish, and a new (Ozempic?) body.
Grimes having a mini meltdown due to some technical issues during her DJ set.
Crumbl is teaming up with Kellogg’s to launch a cereal. An interesting move that might make cereal more favorable with the Gen Z crowd. Pretty surprising that they are partnering with Kellogg’s to make this happen, and really speaks to the immense growth and market value Crumbl has achieved since their opening just 7 years ago.
Skims is bringing back 2007 fashion. What in the Victoria’s Secret?
Bella Hadid may be launching a fragrance very soon. In an IG post for Orebella, her new (coming soon) brand, she’s seen flipping through pages of a notebook full of fragrance scribbles. I think it’s genius for her to launch with a fragrance because the scent market is booming.
People are buying up gold bars at Costco, and it’s an absolute cash cow for the brand. The gold bars are available to members online, and Costco is reported to be selling $200million’s worth every single month.
There’s something so bleak about Lala Kent’s heavily branded gender reveal.
Glossier is opening a store in a Las Vegas hotel and I don’t know how to feel about it. The glitz and glamour of Vegas almost feels antithetical to everything Glossier stands for, and opening inside of a hotel mall just seems really…off brand? IDK. They’ve been doing weird stuff ever since Emily Weiss stepped down as CEO.
