Good morning.
I spent a lot of this weekend hungover in bed and maybe it’s for the best. I also went to Le Relais de Venise L'Entrecôte, the French restaurant that has a set menu of only steak and fries. They opened a location in NYC not too long ago.
We got there just before they opened and luckily were able to get seated right away. By the time we left, a line of 50+ people had formed down the block waiting to get in.
The steak was pretty good. The sauce it’s drenched in was excellent.

The real reason Gen Z hates dating apps
Addison Rae & JoJo Siwa’s rebrands
Palm Beach is so in right now.
Palm Beach street style interviews have taken over my feed and Apple TV just released the star-studded Palm Royale series. Will the girlies be wearing Lilly Pulitzer dresses and pearls this summer?
Dating apps suck at social media and it’s a red flag for Gen Z.
Just an observation. Gen Z doesn’t use dating apps, and I think it’s partly because these apps can’t sell themselves on social. Tinder and Bumble seem stuck in a loop of posting cringe millennial-hell memes and it really doesn’t resonate with anyone at this point. They also funnel a shitton of money into really bad influencer marketing. It’s obvious that they give influencers poor content creation guidance, and all of these videos from amazing creators just end up being flop advertisements that don’t resonate or feel organic in any way.
Alternatively, I remember the buzz about Monet, a Gen-Z founded dating app that made big buzz on TikTok a couple years back, though the app ultimately failed.
JoJo Siwa’s attempt to rebrand as an adult has been…interesting.
Last week JoJo released her new song Karma in which she sings about having been a “bad girl” and a “wild child”. Definitely an interesting choice considering her very well documented childhood of not having been “bad” or “wild” at all. I’m sorry to say that the face paint and rhinestones in this new music video don’t exactly scream adulthood.
Addison Rae is on a Charli XCX track.
Speaking of personal rebrands, Addison Rae’s move from TikTok dance queen to esoteric it-girl has been wildly successful. Uzma makes a great comparison between Addison Rae and Charli D’Amelio. They blew up at the same time for the same thing and reached similar levels of fame. Now Addison has evolved into this aspirational cool girl and the D’Amelio’s have a reality show that no one watches.
Decorative type is so back
I love this breakdown of the ever re-emerging “human type” trend that is so old school and yet so wacky and weird and modern.
“Perhaps most importantly, the human alphabet serves as a powerful tool for softening and humanising design in an age of immense global dysfunction and discontent.”
Jax and Kristen are coming back to Bravo
The canceled former Vanderpump Rules cast members star in a new Bravo series called The Valley. The new show follows some former Pump Rules stars and their colleagues as they settle down for a quieter life in Suburbia. Looks awful.
The Washington Post claims that birth control side effects are “misinformation”
You know they messed up bad when comments on the post have been limited.
Beyonce’s team projected an unauthorized ad onto the Guggenheim Museum
Guggenheim shared in a statement with The Hollywood Reporter that the institution “was not informed about and did not authorize this activation. However, we invite the public — including Beyoncé and her devoted fans — to visit the museum May 16–20 when we present projections by artist Jenny Holzer on the facade of our iconic building to celebrate the opening of her major exhibition.”
Kava and Kratom are the talk of the town
A viral video has people talking about the ingredients in the mood-boosting beverages that are popping up at corner stores and gas stations. Are we living in 2013 Williamsburg?
